At the end of our family’s second mission trip to Honduras, my thoughts drift back to what has taken place over the last several days here. So many new sights, smells and tastes but just as many familiar faces and places that we look forward to. The best part of our trips is reuniting with the people of the village while sharing hugs and handshakes. These beautiful people are so welcoming and hospitable to our entire team. Each village resident, in their own way, show their appreciation for our presence. As we lighten their days, I too personally have been touched, yet again, by the children’s love and connection toward us as they hang our every word as well as our hands. My prayer is that each and every person I have physically touched will continue to feel the love I have for them and that their spirit will be affected in a positive way forever, year after year. Yes, we will most certainly return to visit our new brothers and sisters as soon as possible so that we can build the bonds already created. As for our two twin boys that we have become foster parents of, Angel and Wilmer, I hope and pray that my family can show them our love from across the Gulf of Mexico until we see them again on our next visit to Honduras. The memories created throughout our first two trips will give us continued joy while we are apart for another year as we remember each smiling face and name. I would encourage anyone to come visit our friends of Honduras so they too can experience the life changing power of Christ’s loving example. You will never be the same…neither will the people you touch.

Last day at the Orphanage

This was our last day (Friday) at the boy's home. We spend the morning hanging out with them until we had to leave. It was super sad, and none of us wanted to leave. We gave them all our goodbye hugs and fair wells, and headed out. And we can't wait to return next summer! Thanks so much to everyone for their support and prayers during this trip! It was much appreciated. We can't begin to express how truly blessed we are for getting to go on the trip. Thank you!

Final day in the village

These are some pictures of the kids at the school we went to thursday. They had an anniversary celebration for the school so there was a parade, band, and lots of girls dressed up in beautiful dresses. It was fun, but yet sad because it was the last time to see the kids from the village.

Here is a video of little sally walker! they had a hard time playing it because we sang in english. But we still had a great time!

Today we went to the public school in the village, although the teachers were on strike today the kids still showed up to see us! We went to three classes doing skits, singing songs and then just hanging out with the kids afterwards. We played games such as Little Sally Walker, Two Square, soccer, and other random games. Afterwards we went back to the orphanage and hung out with the boys until it was time to go. It was another great day. So sad there is only two more left!

We traveled to another small village to visit a few families we met last year (the team). The Pastor and his family have recently moved and are looking for a new pastor. One young boy of the families was doing well with his new leg braces that were bought for him by NewHeartForChildrenMinistries. We will return to them tomorrow to take some villagers back to our dental team for dental services. Other than that the rest of the team hung out at the boys home with the ninos playing games and just loving on the kids. The construction also started today! The holes are almost done being fixed, only a few more are left. We had fun and can't wait till tomorrow.

Field of pineapples they grow on honduras. The soil is filled with rocks which makes me wonder how they grow so well!

We took a small bus to a couple houses in the village today to just check up and see how the families were doing. These are two boys from each family there. So precious.

We went down to a village today that had a beautiful river called Tres Rocas. It was so clear and there were other people swimming in it. It was so hot outside so we couldn't resist getting in either!

Jill is one of our wonderful translators who lives here in La Ceiba a major city in Honduras who is a strong Christian. This morning she told me a story that we think is a miracle. Matias, her husband, has been out of work for seven months like so many Hondurans. They opened their eyes this morning and asked each other, “What will we feed our two babies” (5 and 2 yr. olds). For some reason Matias remembered a stash of cash he had hidden but thought he had already used up. Jill told him where his little box was, because he had forgotten it had been so long. He opened it up and saw one dollar, and then another dollar. Then he told Jill that there was over $6.00 dollars (which would feed a family for one meal) In short, God provided for their breakfast just like every morning because of their faithful prayers and selfless serving God’s people in their community.

Krista’s birthday was today! The honduran boys sang her three songs to celebrate being 15.

The Pico Mountain range with Pico River where everyone bathes and washes clothes.
Trey and Billy, a friend from 2008, reuniting. He didn’t recognize Trey because of all the grey hair.

Kali and Jose watching the rain. Again.

Trey buying vegetables from local villager. Three potatoes for 25 cents.

It was special to reunite with all the boys and villagers after two years. We look forward to meeting more kids in the school of Ninos de la Luz tomorrow and sharing with them stories of the bible through skits.

Sunday we visited our boy’s home Ninos de la Luz located in the village armenia bonito.

Kyle meets Angel and Wilmer (our twin boys we support) for the first time.

The whole family with the boys.

Sunday morning church with all the boys from Ninos de la Luz and team. Jim speaks with our translator Dennis. We sang songs, and Jim gave a great message about how God is a good god even through difficult times. Such as what the boys have experienced their entire life.

Trey meets twenty year old Noe who speaks good english because he learns at the local university outside of the village.

Our kids playing soccer with the honduran boys.

Lunch time with the boys! KFC is world wide.

Bill and Mary are the directors/loving foster parents to all 23 boys. Bill is from the USA, and Mary is from Honduras.

Going through the village reuniting with Honduran friends.

Young boy talks about his painful hurt eye.

Small children in the village we met as we walked along the road.

Hector shows off his muscular body and he remembered me from 2008.

Men working with the machetes to clear a fence line. They use man power, we use machines.

Elois poses for me as he followed me around the entire village. Good kid.

Larissa, my wife, with the rest of the team. New church construction with giant mountain background. 8,000 ft peak.

Favorite grandma Tiadora chats with Tamera, Jim’s wife. They have become very close over the last 15 trips to Honduras. Their son Brandon helped build Tiadora her new house.

These aren’t old tool sheds, these are bedrooms where Tiadora used to lay her head down and now is her grandson’s bedroom.
